Michelle Branch Calls Off Divorce From Cheating Husband After Arrest

Michelle Branch was quick to file for divorce in the aftermath of her husband’s infidelity becoming publicized. The singer filed with the court shortly after being released from police custody after she allegedly hit her husband (the charges have now been dropped).

Despite the drama, it appears she’s giving her marriage to Patrick Carney another try, as Michelle informed the court she wanted to pause the divorce proceedings for at least six months.

According to Us Weekly, court records reveal Patrick and Michelle plan to live together in Nashville as they co-parent their two young children. They said they plan to go to counselling.

Michelle Called Her Husband Out Online For Cheating

In August, Michelle shocked fans when she turned to Twitter to accuse her husband of being unfaithful while she was pregnant with their youngest.

Hours later, it was reported that Michelle had been arrested for domestic assault after slapping Patrick in the face while arguing at their Nashville home. She was released from custody sooner after on a $1,000 bond but was told she would need to appear in court on assault charges in November.

Days later, the singer released a statement through her representative, reiterating that Patrick cheated on her and confirming her intent to divorce.

"To say that I am totally devastated doesn't even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family. The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward," Michelle said. "With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness."

She Was Charged After An Argument Got Physical

Until, recently, Michelle had charges pending against her following the domestic dispute. A judge eventually dropped them at the end of last month.

"Michelle stated that she and her husband are having marital issues and had been arguing," court documents said of the argument. "The argument began at another location and continued when they arrived home. The argument escalated and Michelle admitted to slapping Patrick in the facial area one to two times."

Patrick and Michelle were first romantically linked in 2015, before tying the knot in 2019. They welcomed their first child, a son, in 2020, while their daughter was born earlier this year. Michelle has spoken about going through a traumatic miscarriage in 2020.
